This week we are working on the process of writing an opinion piece and beginning the process of proofreading.
Monday:
What makes a good piece of persuasive writing? We discussed how to persuade others through writing using techniques such as clearly defined statements, supporting facts, and consideration of possible opposing perspectives. Today everyone chose something about the school that they would like to change and made outlines supporting their argument.
Tuesday:
We expanded our ideas into a draft of the full piece of persuasive writing and started looking for a reputable source (does it pass the CRAAP Test?) to support our ideas.
Wednesday:
We took notes on different proofreading symbols and took a crack at proofreading a persuasive writing piece from another class.
Thursday:
We completed our persuasive writing drafts, printed them, and proofed them.
