Theory: The Foundations
Foundations and context. Developing the basics needed to be successful in the other aspects of the course.
Learning Outcome:
Students will compare and contrast music from a range of historical and cultural contexts.
Learning Activities:
Three theory units that are connected to our classroom repertoire.
In-class theory exercises both related to and isolated from repertoire.
Resources:
Online theory resources (i.e. key signature/rhythm flashcards, etc.)
Assessment:
Theory quizzes (can be re-written as many times as necessary since the goal is mastery).
