Hi everyone! I hope your meetings with Ms George are going well and that you are starting to plan your Capstone Presentation. The rubric for this was posted below in the Capstone Styles booklet, but to make it easier to work with as you plan your presentation I'm uploading just the rubric itself for your reference. Please DO reference it as you prepare so you can knock your presentations out of the park. Looking forward to seeing as many as I can! -Ms Sidaway-Wolf

Many of you are working on your time management and organizational skills as one of your goals for this year. I've created a calendar template that you can print and fill out to help with this! Reminder: Your assignment booklet is due by DECEMBER 20th (Resume, cover letter, resignation letter, job search, etc.). Come see me in Room 101 if you have questions!!
We are wrapping up the second round of individual appointments. At this point, you should be finished or close to finished your Work assignment booklet (job search, resume, cover letter, job interview answers, social media audit, budget and resignation letter). You can use the cover letter template for your resignation letter as well. I have attached that booklet as a PDF, as well as resume and cover letter templates as Word Documents. If you are having issues with your assignments, please come see me in Room 101 as soon as possible. You don't need to make an appointment to ask questions or to hand in your work, BUT if you have not met with me you do have to make an appointment. Reminder: Individual meetings are part of the course requirements which contribute to you completing your graduation requirements. The assignments for this course are graded and you will receive a letter grade for this course at the end of the year.
**Your job-seeking assignments are due at your second appointment! I have re-attached that file below in case you need another copy.** The new individual appointment schedule has been posted on the bulletin board outside Room 101. I have accommodated any schedule requests I received before or at our first appointment. If you have a conflict, contact me immediately!! ([email protected])
As promised, here is an assignment checklist you can use to help stay on track in your classes. Those of you who have an academic goal of staying more organized in your classes (and anyone else who wants to use it), download and try it out!!
Here's the link to a list of scholarships put together by the Yukon Government's Department of Education. LOTS to look at, and don't forget - not all scholarships are about having top grades!
http://www.education.gov.yk.ca/scholarships.html We covered LOTS of information at our seminar on Tuesday, September 24. If you were absent, it is up to you to come see me about what you missed.
Our next seminar date is Tuesday, September 24th. We will meet in the library at the beginning of Period 3 and you will be there for the afternoon. If you have pre-existing conflicts, contact Ms. Sidaway-Wolf as soon as possible in Room 101 or at [email protected]
Your first individual meeting will take place following this seminar. See you all there!! Our first Grade 12 seminar took place on Monday, August 27th. “Today’s graduates must be able to adapt to ongoing change in many aspects of their lives. Purposeful career-life development, where students learn how to set personally meaningful goals, recognize and cultivate relevant opportunities and supportive relationships, and continually re-evaluate and revise their plans, is a requirement for educated citizens in an ever-changing world.
Educated citizens are lifelong learners who continually build on their self-awareness about evolving interests and strengths, and who are able to use this personal knowledge to inform their career-life choices with flexibility as opportunities and challenges arise. In Grades 10 to 12, students explore and research a multitude of education, work-related, and life opportunities to develop the knowledge and the personal and social competencies to manage the next steps in their career-life journeys.” - BC Curriculum Guide, 2018 Through presentations, workshops, assignments, and a major capstone project, Yukon graduates will develop their skills, relationships, and perspectives in order to prepare themselves for their adult lives beyond high school. The format of CLC 12 at Porter Creek Secondary School involves regular, mandatory seminar meeting times, approximately once a month for both afternoon blocks. Each student will also have regular opportunities to meet individually with their CLC teacher(s) in order to stay up to date on their Capstone progress and to access assistance and support. Success in CLC 12 requires seminar attendance, appropriate participation, thoughtful completion of assignments, and evidence of significant personal investment in their individual Capstone Project. Students are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity to prepare themselves for life after high school. The school team is here to support each student with their individual journey and to help them identify and work towards their goals.
