This week we began our Children's Book Project!
*If you have been away, remember that you are responsible for coming to see me so we can identify and prioritize work you have missed. It is not possible to make up everything as many learning experiences in this course depend on in-class discussions, etc. However, all projects are designed so that you can complete them if you do certain elements. I am happy to help you get organized to catch up before school, at lunch, or after school! Come chat with me if you are unsure!
Monday/Tuesday:
Library - Explore our collection of children's literature and choose one book for your book report and plot diagram.
Wednesday:
Literature Circles - Share your book with your Lit Circle, identifying the main conflict/problem and examples of literary devices.
Thursday:
Class brainstorm of different themes we observed in our books (and others from children's books we already know). Please make sure you have copied the brainstorm into your book. (Click here to see the class brainstorm.) We also wrote about a memory from our lives that connects with one or more of these themes.
Friday:
Complete writing about our memories and worked on a Plot Mountain to identify the structure of the memory. The Plot Mountain has been assigned for homework over the weekend if you did not complete it in class. If you have been away, you will need to come chat with me so you can catch up with this project as we are moving forward with it next week.
