Welcome everyone to Career-Life Education 10, one of your graduation requirements and a great course for helping you find your way. We have met together a few times now and are starting to find the rhythm of this school year, which is definitely a bit different than we're all used to.
Since we only meet half the usual time in class, of course we won't be able to get through everything during our time face to face. In addition to the work we've been doing together, you are responsible for making progress on additional assignments in this "blended" format, just like in your other classes. The first thing you've been assigned to work on outside of class time is your Skill Development. The other is your MyBlueprint Portfolio.
Please ask questions in class or by email ([email protected]) anytime. Assignment details follow!
Skill Development:
Over the course of the semester you are expected to spend about an hour each week (more if you'd like!) developing a skill (or skills) of your choosing. This can be pretty much anything you think you should or would like to learn (laundry, mechanics, cooking, art, language, etc.). You can choose different skills over the semester or you can pick a big one to work on the whole time. We are keeping track of progress in a log which is kept in class, but you are very welcome to keep this log in a digital format - I'll just need to be able to review it from time to time. Your log must include weekly updates on three topics: 1-What you did that week, 2-Challenges, 3-Next steps. You can definitely include photos, audio, and/or video as long as those three topics are covered.
MyBlueprint Portfolio:
Career Education students in the Yukon are now using MyBlueprint, which is a powerful, user-friendly website that helps students organize their interests, research, and job/school-related documents. Each of you have an account and your first tasks have been to log in and complete personality profile quizzes. We will be using MyBlueprint for a number of things this semester, so it's important that you can access your account.
Your MyBlueprint login information is in this format:
Site: myblueprint.ca/yukon (Your account is on the Yukon-specific site so make sure you start there!)
Username: [email protected]
Password: GradYear! You must include the capital G and the exclamation point. Example: Grad2022!
